Dutch Oven Beef and Mushrooms

Dutch oven cooking is a wonderful way to make flavorful meals. There just seems to be something about cooking in a Dutch oven that makes things taste extra special.

Beef is especially good cooked in this manner. This hearty beef and Mushroom recipe is one your family will love whether it is cooked on the stove top or over a campfire as in this recipe.

This meal is equally as good with Chicken instead of beef.

Ingredients
3 lbs. diced beef cubes

6 chopped Green onions

1 finely sliced bell pepper

1 lb. fresh mushrooms

1 can beefy mushroom soup

1 can water

salt and pepper to taste.

1 packet biscuit mix or refrigerator biscuits

Directions
Pre-heat 12 inch Dutch oven from the bottom for 5 minutes.
Place diced meat in oven. Stir until brown.
Add soup and water.
Mix with the beef.
Simmer for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. (This tenderizes the meat.)
Place mushrooms on top.
Bake 70 minutes with 10 coals or a nice bed on the bottom and 10 coals (or a small shovel full) on top.
25-30 minutes before serving time, drop biscuits on top of the mixture.
Bake an additional 20-25 minutes or until biscuits are browned.
This recipe goes well with fire roasted veggies for a filling meal that tastes great. Just the thing on a cool night out camping or in your own backyard fire pit.
